An Introduction to the Creative Work of Brad Carr

Are you a landscape photographer who feels stuck, uninspired, or searching for something deeper in your work?

I'm Brad Carr, and I understand that feeling completely. Seven years ago, I was trapped in a soul-sucking corporate job, healing from my first heartbreak, and using the art of landscape photography as a reason to escape into the peaceful hills of Mid Wales. I intuitively knew a more meaningful creative life was waiting for me, but I couldn't see the path forward.

Landscape & Nature photography and writing became my lifeline; not just hobbies, but tools for awakening and deep healing. Through the creative process, I discovered my true purpose and transformed my relationship with the natural world and myself.

The creative journey led me from feeling lost and confused to having my photographs and writings featured in international magazines, displayed in Wales' most prestigious galleries, and recognised on leading photography podcasts worldwide. I've published photobooks, spoken to thousands of people, made countless connections with many others, and built a life of deep meaning and purpose.

I've learned that the technical understanding of the camera is just the beginning. The real magic happens when you learn to infuse your images with your personal story, your pain, your growth, and your unique perspective on the world.

If you're ready to move beyond taking pretty pictures and start creating meaningful art that reflects who you truly are – art that connects with others and feeds your soul – I'm here to guide you on that journey.

Through private tuition and personalised mentoring, I help landscape and Nature photographers like you discover your artistic voice, tell your story through your lens, and create work that matters.

Your deeper purpose is waiting. Let's find it together.

Working with Brad Might Lead You to a National Exhibition in a Prestigious Gallery

‘‘In May 2025, I was honoured to launch my solo exhibition in Plas Glyn y Weddw, the oldest gallery here in Wales. The exhibition brought to a head seven years of creative work and intensive soul-searching, showcasing my photography and writing to an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 people over a period of seven weeks.

Now, I am looking forward to working with other ambitious photographers, helping them find the meaning in their creative work that might make an exhibition like this possible.’’

‘‘Photography holds such great power as a form of art and creative practice. It can be transformational for the human spirit; the camera, a tool for personal and spiritual development that can lead a person towards a place of deep healing and greater self-awareness.

This art, for me, has been as much an alternative form of therapy as anything else. I walk now, a much changed version of myself in comparison to the version of me that existed before I reconnected with my soul through the art of Nature photography.’’

  • Photographing Feelings

At one point in our formative years, we were all sensitive to the touch of our mothers’ soft hands upon our skin and the sound of her gentle voice in our ears. Why then, I ask, do we spend most of our lives desperately trying to abandon our true selves and forget our true nature? In a world quickly overrun by data and machines – machines that can now apparently ‘create’ art – maybe it is time that we doubled down on what makes us human. That means excavating and exploring the worlds we have kept hidden inside our fragile hearts for so long.

  • The Spirit of Place

There is a particular resonance that one feels from certain landscapes. These wild, untamed places invoke and awaken the soul, bringing forth that which is unexplainable from within the human vessel. When we take tentative steps into these sacred landscapes, we are entering a cathedral. We silently encounter the divine in the mirror of the outer world.

  • A Bridge Between Two Worlds

The camera is the bridge that connects these two worlds. Not only does it capture what it sees in the external world that is so familiar to us all, but it reflects, at the same time, the inner world of the artist; one that is completely unique and so often unknown and unseen, even by the artist’s eyes at times.

  • The Spirit of Place

The most difficult work in the world of landscape photography is not in mastering the technical features of the camera, much to the frustration of many who begin their journey to create. Rather, it begins when one sets out into the landscape with divine inspiration from Mother Nature and curiosity in pursuit of a creative vision that restores one’s sense of self-sovereignty.

  • Learning to See Again

The deep reflective process of spending time in Nature allows us to bring forth into the conscious mind what was once buried in the unconscious. As we walk in a state of meditation beside the silent waters, we dredge the waters of our internal lake, often bringing to the surface the muddied, forgotten memories of our youth. As we rid ourselves of this mud that we bathe in, we scrape off the years of conditioning and the adopted beliefs about who we are, and we can begin to see what we are beyond physical form in the infinite world of spirit. When we learn to see ourselves beyond our immediate physical form, then we can see the soul of another. We begin to look past the unconscious actions and words of a person’s ego and become aware instead of the pure energy and light that often exists behind their immediate expressions.

  • A Dance Between Thought & Being

A thought is eternal. Our bodies and all our possessions will leave the earth one day, but a thought will live on in some way, shape, or form. It can transpire through the conversations and interactions that we have, or be transferred via a simple look in our eyes. Everything that we see today was just a thought yesterday.

“Brad’s style of teaching is that of a coach that wants to help you get the best out of your own vision and art. This is not about telling you what to do, it is about asking you to think about why you are taking that particular picture and how you might improve it. This is for those who really want to take their photography to a new level of meaning and thinking. I made me realise that the most important part of the experience is to be out in nature and to try and use my photography to share the benefits of how this makes me feel.”

  • Lucy R ★★★★★

“Brad is as wonderful of a teacher as he is a photographer. I have had both a 1-1 lesson as well as a workshop with Brad where I experienced consistent attention, personalised feedback and a friendly atmosphere. Brad’s philosophy and dedication to photography is admirable, and I couldn’t recommend him enough if you’re thinking of developing your landscape photography.”

  • Angelika S ★★★★★

“I recently had the opportunity to spend a day with Brad for a one-to-one day at Lake Vyrnwy, and it was an incredibly productive experience. Brad had done his homework and put a lot of effort into creating a custom plan that perfectly matched my shooting style and workflow.
What impressed me most was his decision to leave his own camera behind, which allowed him to focus entirely on my work. This is something I hadn’t seen before, and it made a significant difference. He constantly encouraged me to think about what I was doing, how and why, pushing me to explore different perspectives and techniques.
The day was well-structured yet flexible, and I appreciated the emphasis on practical learning. It was a valuable session that has left a lasting impact on my photography.’’

  • Kieran M ★★★★★

“Coming on this workshop really made me see how people like Brad, with such a passion and skill in photography truly enjoy sharing their knowledge, skills and techniques. No question was ever too much and Brad was always happy to go as much into depth as needed to help understand what I had asked. A superb morning full of discussion, skill sharing and in a beautiful location!”

  • Alexander S ★★★★★

I had a fantastic zoom call with Brad to review some of my photography portfolio that I had sent over. I did not realise how much I needed this appointment/chat with Brad. What a great insight and appreciation that photography has to us as humans beings, on an artistic and metal welfare level. The insight, feeling and emotions that an image can give will sometimes get missed by the viewer, but not Brad we went into depth on images to find the meaning behind the image and the reason it was taken, this pulled at my creative mind and also made me realise that photography is just not a creative outlet for me, it is also a metal escapism. This review has highlighted my passion and reason on why I try to take photos for an emotion/metal welfare reasons.

    Just great Photography Therapy.

First met Brad at the Land and Light Exhibition in London a few weeks ago, then joined his closed Facebook page. Brad has a calming nature about him and is really easy to talk with. Via the Facebook page he was offering a free image review session, so I signed up as I'm always happy to talk photography! Not only did we discuss the images that I had sent to him, we also discussed my journey into photography, and how it helps me in everyday life. You can listen on his YouTube channel.
Brad is an extremely good listener and offers some really useful advice. I would highly recommend ! Thanks again Brad.

Brad challenges you both as an individual and as a group making you reflect on your photographic style and approach as well as offering technical tips on technique and composure. Importantly, you get plenty of time to slow down and really consider what you are trying to get out of each photograph. Brad is not just about the photography but uses this as a medium to think wider and consider your own journey and philosophy. Beautiful scenery, something new around each corner. Highly recommended.

  • Allison P. ★★★★★

What an amazing workshop. I’ve visited the area on numerous occasions, but never have I taken in all of its beauty.
Brad’s style of tuition is that of a teacher, if required, but more importantly as a coach making you think; ‘Why am I taking this photo?’ ‘How can I improve it?’
I came away from the day knowing more about my camera but the biggest takeaway was the realisation that photography really does make you stop, look and consider your surroundings.
Thanks to Brad, I’m itching to get back out in the great outdoors with my camera and look out for more photographic opportunities.

Use Creativity to tell Your Story, Build Confidence, and Find New Purpose

‘‘For many years, I have been deeply passionate about helping people reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves that they can be.

Before my photography career, I worked as a personal trainer and football coach. I have always loved helping people build confidence and expand beyond their limits and mental barriers to reach their ultimate potential.

I treat every client as an individual, listening deeply and intently to each person’s needs before deciding how best to proceed. To help a person progress, my ethos is to get to the core of the problem that they are facing, whether that is personally, spiritually, or professionally.

Curiosity is the key to my tuition and mentoring approach, and I encourage everyone to come with an open mind, ready to embrace new concepts and ideas in pursuit of growth through my photography tuition and mentoring. I always advise people to enjoy the creative journey and not to become too fixated on the results and rewards.
